Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT)

Underwater Inspection of On-System and Off-System Bridges

Engineering Operations was selected as the primary consultant for the CDOT’s Statewide Underwater Bridge Inspections, which includes the inspections of two structures crossing the Blue Mesa Reservoir. These inspections require diving in excess of 100 ft. and are performed at an altitude of over 7,500 ft. The remainder of the structures include a mix of concrete, steel, and timber bridges that cross waterways throughout the state.

CDOT Statewide Non-Project Specific Bridge Asset Management, Inspection, and Load Rating Services

Engineering Operations is a subconsultant to AECOM for the CDOT Statewide Non-Project Specific Bridge Asset Management, Inspection, and Load Rating Services contract. This is an on-going, five-year contract in which Engineering Operations will perform as the Inspection Task Order Lead, coordinating and providing specialized inspection services throughout the state.

Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT)

Underwater Inspection of Bridges Statewide

Engineering Operations is a subconsultant to Collins Engineers on this project which includes underwater inspections throughout the state. Our team has performed inspections ranging from swift water dive operations to sub-freezing conditions, and has produced inspection findings reports based on the WYDOT and FHWA guidelines.

Florida's Turnpike North

Bridge, Sign, LNQC, and HMLT Inspections

Engineering Operations is a subconsultant to Consor Engineers on this project which includes both routine and underwater inspections throughout the Florida Turnpike’s North Corridor (Turnpike Mainline, Beachline Expressway, Southern Connector Extension, Veterans Expressway, Suncoast Parkway, Polk Parkway, Western Beltway, and the I-4 Connector).  Many structure types are included in this contract, including bridges, signs, LNQCs, and HMLTs.  Our team is responsible for performing thorough inspections, producing detailed findings reports, updating structure inventory details, making repair recommendations, and producing FARC (Feasible Action Review Committee) agendas for the Turnpike.

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5

State Underwater Bridge Inspections

Engineering Operations is a subconsultant to Consor Engineers on this project which includes both routine and underwater inspections throughout District 5. These inspections include routine topside, culverts, substructures, fender systems, embankment bulkhead/retaining walls, and channel bottoms. This contract requires the preparation of detailed engineering reports with drawings and underwater photographs documenting existing conditions at each bridge. These inspections are based on the NBIS requirements and are documented in accordance with FDOT and FHWA guidelines. Both commercial scuba diving and SSA (Surface Supplied Air) diving methods are used on this project.

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5

Local Government Bridge Inspections

Engineering Operations is a subconsultant to Ayres on this project which includes underwater inspections of structures throughout the District that are owned and maintained by Local Government agencies.  Inspections on this project require the use of commercial scuba diving or SSA methods and include both bridges and culverts. This contract also includes a hurricane emergency response element, which includes post storm evaluations for both structural damage and scour.

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)

Underwater Bridge Inspection

Engineering Operations was selected as a primary consultant for the MDT’s Statewide Underwater Bridge Inspections. Inspections will address foundation, scour and the overall condition of each substructure unit below the waterline.

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD)

Underwater Bridge Inspection Manual Development

Engineering Operations is part of a multi-disciplinary team rewriting LADOTD’s bridge inspection manual. The manual will involve all aspects of bridge inspection for the state of Louisiana and address both federal and state requirements.

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD)

IDIQ STATEWIDE INVENTORY AND INSPECTION OF SIGN TRUSSES

Engineering Operations is performing structural inspections of sign trusses for this contract. This includes non-destructive testing on the structural components, reports submitted in Agile Assets, and performing minor maintenance.

NPS Off-System Bridge Inspection

Engineering Operations is a subconsultant to HDR for the NPS Off-System Bridge Inspection Services contract. This is an on-going, five-year contract with CDOT to perform routine bridge inspections utilizing the AASHATOWare Bridge Management Software (BrM).

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD)

Underwater Bridge Inspection

Engineering Operations is a subconsultant to Moffatt & Nichol for the LADOTD Underwater Inspection contract. The contract is a four-year underwater inspection contract to perform bridge inspections, hydrograph, and acoustic imaging.

Development of Asset Management Application

Engineering Operations was recently selected as a subconsultant with HDR and Cambridge Systems for revising CDOT's Asset Management Data System, an application that will be used for asset management and inspection in the field.

Natchez Bridge

Bridge Rehab & Special Pier Inspection

Engineering Operations was a subconsultant to BDI for a special pier inspection of the Natchez Bridge over the Mississippi River. eO and BDI performed a hands-on inspection of the piers before pin replacement. SPRAT rope access techniques were used to access the piers and a final letter report noted findings and monitor locations for crack gauges.
